A LEGACY REUNITED
There are partnerships in the world of horology that are built on instinct, trust, and a shared belief in craftsmanship. The story of John Pass and TUDOR is one of these rare relationships, built quietly over decades, guided by a watchmaker’s eye and a family’s dedication to quality.
Fifty-eight years ago, long before TUDOR became the global powerhouse it is today, a travelling sales representative stepped into the modest John Pass workshop. He carried with him a selection of Swiss watches; pieces that caught the attention of a young watchmaker named John Pass. With the meticulous eye of his trade, he examined them one by one, instantly recognising something special: robust construction, precision engineering, and a quality far beyond their price tag.
Though the collection was impressive, the business was still small. Purchasing the full range wasn’t possible. Sensing the integrity of the family behind the counter, the representative made a gesture that would echo through generations, he allowed John to buy just two watches.
They sold. More arrived. They sold again.
And, little by little, the partnership grew. Customers loved the brand. John believed in it wholeheartedly. It was the beginning of a long friendship between a Swiss manufacturer with a pioneering spirit and a local jeweller who understood craftsmanship better than most.
The brand was TUDOR.
"They sold. More arrived. They sold again."
Nearly six decades later, this story comes full circle. Today, the Pass family is proud to welcome TUDOR back to their Crewe showroom, an emotional return that honours heritage, celebrates exceptional watchmaking, and pays tribute to the man who laid the foundations of their business. As Director Andrew Pass reflects,
“It gives me immense pride to rekindle this partnership, honour our history, and pay tribute to my Grandfather’s legacy.”
To mark this reunion, here is a closer look at some of the standout TUDOR models now gracing the showroom, timepieces that embody the adventurous spirit, technical mastery, and timeless style that first captivated a watchmaker in Crewe all those years ago.
